So it may only be October but here at H.Samuel, Christmas is in full swing and it’s easy to get excited about the jolly holiday that is fast approaching!

Guess iApp Launch!

So today was an extremely early start for myself and our lovely social media exec, but boy was it worth it! We headed down to the Guess flagship store on Regents Street to see an exclusive sneak peek of the first Guess iApp! Upon arrival, we were greeted with a fabulous array of breakfast goodies and drinks and of course a wonderful up close and personal look at their great new range of jewellery and watches! 

After having a cup of tea and breakfast muffin, we were excited to see the brand new collection as well as to experience the buzz surrounding the new fashion iApp! This is a first for Guess in the UK and we don’t blame them for being excited!

Many retailers on the high street have their own apps, but Guess have pushed the boundaries by not only having an app to view the collection with the catchy name of ‘GGG’ or Guess, Gorgeous, Gifts, it also has a QR code reader and Augmented Reality function built in! Ok, so for those who have no idea what I just said, don’t worry, I didn’t either! Basically, once a user has downloaded the app, this whizzy function recognises an image, in this case a model wearing a watch and brings the watch to life. Right in front of your eyes, your smart phone transforms these once 2D images of a watch in to 3D, where you can then move them around and have a 360 look at them. This great advance in technology is not only fun, it allows the user to get a real feel for the watch similar to as you would in store. 

To celebrate the launch of this, two of this season’s must have watches for both him and her will be up for grabs at the Augmented Reality ‘Guess Live’ events, that will be taking place across the country. The first of these events will take place on October 6th at the Guess Regent Street store where the front window will be taken over by huge displays recognisable by Augmented Reality. By scanning these images, the user will be able to watch exclusive content on their iPad’s and in turn will win either a Guess watch or a gift card to be redeemed in store that day! 

And if you haven’t got an iPad? Don’t worry! With the existing built in QR code reader, users with any smart phone will be able to enter the exciting Great GUESS Giveaway, which will run exclusively in Guess stores from mid October! There are some great gifts up for grabs including, OPI nail varnishes, spa breaks, yearly subscriptions to Glamour magazine and an amazing Grand Prize of a holiday for two to see legendary DJ Tiesto live in a surprise location in n 2013!

With the world completely engaged in the global Fashion Weeks that are taking place at the moment and therefore catapulting Spring/Summer ’13 to the fore front of our minds, it’s easy to forget that the weather outside is getting colder, which really can only mean one thing, A/W trends! Here at HS HQ we are ready to jump on board with accessorising our new wardrobes with the fabulous new collection of watches and jewellery from Guess!

Autumn/ Winter '12 Trends!

Although summer is desperately trying to cling on for a few more weeks, it’s safe to say that autumn is upon us and in the fashion world it has well and truly arrived!

With the start of the long awaited fashion month yesterday in New York, its hard not to get drawn into the hype and excitement surrounding the glamorous and fast paced fashion world. Although we are excited to see what some of our favourite designers have in store for S/S’13, its all about the A/W’12 on the high street right now and we are loving it! 

This season has so much to offer, including gothic, leather, baroque, military, masculine and the deep gem colours of red, purple, green and blue. These fabulous trends that have sprung from the catwalk came from all over the world, with the likes of Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Christopher Kane all dipping in to these fabulous trends to produce something unique and great inspiration for the high street.

The Gothic look is a key trend this season with lace, skulls, crosses and leather all gracing the hightstreet. We are loving this look and the way jewellery is combined with it makes for a fabulous finishing touch. Layering up pendants and necklaces is a great way to tie this trend into your look. Why not layer this gothic rolled gold cross pendant with a few chunkier chains for the ultimate gothic-queen or even rock-chic look. Although, this piece is delicate the nature of it makes a bold statement especially teamed with black, studs and of course leather! 

The other trend we are swooning over this season is the use of deep gem colours including red, purple, blue and green. This stunning palette was used by Chanel, Christopher Kane and Alexander McQueen to create some beautifully striking pieces! In keeping with this trend, Garnet, Amethyst, Sapphire and Emeralds are definitely one to watch! By adding a pair of stunning precious stone earrings or even a ring the trend can be worked even if you’re not quite brave enough to step out all in one of these colours! We’re loving the idea of combining Garnet with lace and leather to combine colour and gothic for a fabulous new look!

HS Stratford City & I...

It’s hard not to be sucked into the excitement and buzz surrounding the Olympics at the moment and for me, I was certainly no exception. If I could have had a union jack cape, flag, hat, shoes you name it I would have had it all to show my support for Team GB! As soon as I stepped off the train at Stratford, I was completely taken a back by the amazing sights that surrounded me and it’s hard not to come over all patriotic! 

As we are lucky enough to have a store right at the heart of the Olympics at Westfield Stratford City, it was a must for a visit to see what it’s like being at the fore front of such a historical event! 

Our great range of Olympic coins were a winner with many visitors shopping in the centre, whether it be the athletes themselves or tourists wanting to take a little bit of London 2012 home with them! It was great meeting so many different people, and one of the brilliant things HS Stratford are doing at the moment is having a snap shot with any athletes coming into store, a great way to make everyone feel welcome! 

Great conversations were had and it was fascinating to see the people that are representing their countries in such a great way. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet any members of Team GB but I was lucky enough to meet a male gymnast from the Australian team, whose proud parents purchased some gymnastic coins to take back home for their family and friends! 

And amongst all of the sporting buzz around there was still some time for a love story to make its appearance, with a gentleman who purchased a beautiful engagement ring for his fiancée with an extra special touch in the form of a Basket Ball Olympic coin! The ring will be presented with this piece of memorabilia to mark not only her favourite sport but also the fact they got engaged over such a prominent time in our history! Safe to say they will always remember London 2012! This was a lovely end to my day and I am definitely one hundred percent proud of the Olympics being hosted in our wonderful city and was great to see such a buzz created within our very own store!
